Helping Provide Food to Those in Need
The Beacon of Hope Food Pantry is a non-profit organization that secures and distributes about a million pounds of food each year, feeding the hungry in Marion and surrounding counties in Ohio. It is now the largest food pantry in Marion. It was organized by Rev. Joe Harrison to assist needy families. Their mission is to feed anyone that is hungry and fallen on hard times, regardless geographic location in accordance to Federal guidelines and restrictions.
The food pantry has helped tens of thousands of families and individuals since opening four years ago. They provide emergency food services to needy families meeting guidelines and restrictions. The food pantry is located at 366 West Center Street and gives away free food from 5-7pm every Monday and Thursday. They are also open on the second and fourth Saturday of the month by appointment only.
The Beacon of Hope Food Pantry has successful partnerships with retail grocers, restaurants, civic organizations, local farmers, private donors, food manufacturers, and processors that provide access to hundreds of thousands of pounds of food annually. The food pantry is an affiliate of the Mid-Ohio Food Bank.
With no geographic restrictions, the Beacon of Hope can help any family regardless of where they live. There are several families that need help and travel long distances for food. They offer fresh produce as well as canned/dry goods. The Beacon of Hope Food Pantry offers hope to so many in our community during the holidays and throughout the rest of the year. Their volunteer efforts are appreciated by many, daily showing their pride and love of their community by helping others.
