Nucor Steel Marion

By MarionMade! on February 16, 2017

Nucor Steel Marion is the story of the little steel company that could–that could take “mini” technology and use it to become the nation’s largest steel producer; that could redefine the rules on how steel is made; that could change the way the world looks at discarded scrap; and, this same little company that could …change the way it managed, the way its employees viewed their jobs and their company, and the way it prioritized safety above all else. Nucor’s mission is to succeed by working together.

Nucor Steel Marion is part of a corporation that is the largest producer of steel in the United States and North America’s largest steel recycler.

Nucor Steel Marion is a mini-mill that manufactures a full line of specialty steel products specifically for the highway, construction and agricultural industries.  With a local history that reaches back 100 years, what is now known as Nucor has, through the years, been Pollak, Armco, and Marion Steel.

To demonstrate that they care about their teammates, customers, the environment and the community, Nucor practices five pillars of commercial excellence: stay market driven, be easy to do business with, forge strong, loyal relationships, create sustainable results, and do it together.

Nucor’s people share many of the same characteristics as the steel they manufacture. They’re tough. They’re resilient. They’re strong. And, they’re the backbone of the company. It is this unconventional thinking that has produced Nucor’s unconventional results and challenging the rules of steel making is what helped them succeed–and allowed the company to celebrate 100 years in the steel industry.
