RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS DAY
Friday, February 17, is Random Acts of Kindness Day. In Marion, the Marion Police Department is all over it.
They have partnered with students of the Multicultural Club of Marion Harding High School to get out and spread kindness today. The officers and students are visiting residents in Marion area care facilities and spreading goodwill. The students, who have the day off school as a waiver day heading into Presidents Day weekend, are volunteering their time to this kind effort. They are sharing pictures from a coloring contest held during the most recent “Cops, Kids, Cookies and Cocoa” event. The coloring page was created by the highly talented and artistic Amanda Hicks.
Also being distributed are 50 beautiful wrapped carnations donated by Marion Flower Shop. Marion Flower Shop, also known for its rose give-away each September on Good Neighbor Day, has been a Marion institution since the 1920s. During their Good Neighbor event last year, they donated 3,000 roses to anyone who stopped by the shop—as long as the recipient gave away each of the roses to friends and neighbors to further spread goodwill. This is an annual event for this local florist.
Marion, Ohio, is a caring and generous community. This is what it means to be #MarionMade.
