Farmers Markets

By MarionMade! on May 5, 2017

THE MARION FARMERS’ MARKETS
Nothing says fresh produce and local goods quite like the Farmers’ Market. This event not only offers a social setting for the community, but allows local businesses to showcase their fresh, healthy food and handmade artisan crafts. The Farmers’ Market opens a line of communication between the farmer and the consumer. The Farmers’ Market is an opportunity for Marion residents to directly support local businesses which can lead to expansion and growth.
The Farmers’ Market is operated by Marion Community Food Development, Inc. (MCFD), which is a non-profit 501(c)3.  MCFD’s mission is to ensure all residents of Marion County have access to healthy food and increase opportunities for local food-related business. The Farmers’ Market is hosted in two areas–Downtown Marion on Thursdays, now through October 12 at Prospect Street United Methodist Church (185 S. Prospect St. ), and on Saturdays at Ohio State Marion, May 6-October 14. Due to popular demand, there is currently conversation around hosting a Farmers’ Market November through April inside of the Marion Centre Mall.
This year, the MCFD is looking to incorporate some different aspects to the Farmers’ Market and refocus the overall experience. They will be inviting some local vendors to take part in specific events and kids’ activities will also be on MCFD’s radar for this year’s Farmers’ Markets.
